  Knowledge from the story

I was searching up some stories on the XYY disorder and one neat article caught my eye. In the article I read Anabel Giles personal story, about her son.(see figure 1)
When Anabel's son was a baby he was one of the 1 in 1000 kids to be born with XYY syndrome. And connecting to the symptoms that the disorder shows, Ted had many of them like: Unnaturally tall, speech issues, concentration issues, and emotionally immature. Even though this affected both the lives if Ted and Anabel alot they lived a normal life as much as they could.

Anabel reveals that when Ted was born they told her: " It's alright its only the XYY syndrome". But that wasn't all, they did not mention that Ted will have emotional problem throughout his whole first 10-20 years, and that he will be abnormally tall. But the syndrome was not inherited it was to the bad organization of of sperm cells in the father, which is called disjunction.

Knowledge from resourceful link
The XYY disorder or Jacob's Syndrome is known as trisomy, which is when you have you have 47 chromosomes instead of 46(see figure 1). However the disorder is not inherited, it is a mutation. The disorder occurs in 1 in a 1000 boys according to the Genetic Home Reference. Many men aren't even diagnosed during their whole life, even though they have it. The disorder can cause infertility, problem with speech, and movement, but in some cases you can live a perfectly normal life. The Jacob's Syndrome cannot get you into life threatening situations and can't affect your life drastically. Usually the patients of the disorder tend to be taller and have learning difficulties.

(In Figure 1 you can see the mother and son)
          Some symptoms are:
·         An autism diagnosis
·         An inability to grow facial or body hair
·         Attention difficulties
·         delayed motor skill development, such as writing
·         delayed or difficult speech
·         delayed or absent puberty
·         Emotional or behavioral issues
·         Gynecomastia, or enlarged breast tissue
·         hand trembling or involuntary muscle movements
·         Hypogonadism, or low testosterone levels
·         hypotonia, or weak muscle tone
·         Learning disabilities
·         Low energy levels
·         Small penis
          Small, undersized testicles

Finally the disorder is not a big deal and you can live your life perfectly normal like all the other XY men. Even though you have this syndrome it can't affect so much like any other disorder.
